How matching works
How the finder decides
The finder gives each edition points: 5 if it serves what you sell, 3 for every feature you need that it includes, and 2 for every way your customers buy that it supports. The three highest scores are shown, with the matching reasons listed so you can check them.
- Signal 1: what you sell
- Food, goods, beauty, services or health. It decides the shortlist.
- Signal 2: what you need
- Scales, tips, bookings, commission and so on. These separate close editions.
- Signal 3: how customers buy
- Counter, tables, appointments, memberships, delivery, job cards.

Finder questions
-
01How does the finder pick an edition?
It scores every edition against your answers: what you sell counts most, then the features you ticked, then how customers order. The top three are shown with the reasons they matched, so you can check the logic.
-
02What if two editions score the same?
Both are shown. Read the reasons; usually one matches the way your counter works. You can also switch on modules from another edition in the same account.
-
03Does the finder save my answers?
No. Answers stay in your browser tab and are not sent anywhere. Only the country you pick is remembered, so prices stay in your currency.
-
04Is the price shown the final price?
It is the edition's published starting price for your country, per its billing unit. Extra registers, the managed website and the bundle are listed on the pricing page.
-
05What if no edition fits?
General Retail fits most goods businesses and the closest services edition fits most service businesses. Book a demo and we will tell you honestly if SmartPOS is not right.
-
06Can I change edition after signing up?
Yes. Edition modules can be switched on and off in settings without losing data.
-
07Which POS system is best for a small business?
The one built for how your trade sells, at a price you can see before you sign. The finder shortlists the SmartPOS editions that fit; the comparison page lays them side by side.
-
08Do I need to know my hardware first?
No. Pick the edition first; the hardware guide lists what works with it, and most shops start with a tablet they already own.
