SmartPOS runs in the browser, so it works with standard hardware. See the hardware guide for what to buy.
Barcode scanner
USB and Bluetooth scanners that act as a keyboard work straight away: click into the product search box and scan. Test by scanning into a text editor first.
Thermal receipt printer
- Install the printer’s driver on the computer or tablet.
- In Settings → Receipt printers, add the printer and choose Browser-based printing, or a network printer by IP address.
- Set paper width (80 mm or 58 mm) in the invoice layout.
- Print a test receipt.
Cash drawer
Most drawers plug into the receipt printer and open when a receipt prints. Turn on open cash drawer in the printer’s driver settings.
Label printer
Use Products → Print labels to choose products and quantities, then print barcode labels on a label printer.
Weighing scale
A label scale prints barcodes with the weight or price embedded. Set the barcode prefix and format under Settings → Barcode settings so the POS reads them.
Card reader
Card readers come from your card processor and work with their own app or terminal; SmartPOS records the payment against the sale.
